Temple Solel, a Reform congregation in Hollywood, Florida, has named Fran Mishler as its new director of Jewish learning.

Jewish education is central to the life of Mishler, who has been involved in Jewish education since 1989. When she began teaching Hebrew School at Temple Sinai in Pennsylvania, she knew immediately this was her career path.

Mishler received her B.A. in Religious Studies and Elementary Education at Florida International University with additional training at both Florida Atlantic University and Gratz College.

For eighteen years, Mishler was an educator at the Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus in North Miami Beach. There she served as an elementary school teacher, youth director, camp director, bar/bat mitzvah coordinator, and finally as director of education. During her tenure at Beth Torah, Mishler’s family-centered curriculum won a $70,000 grant and brought enrollment up to 300 students.

“We at Solel take Jewish education very seriously,” said Senior Rabbi Jeffrey K. Salkin.  “Mishler is the right person at the right time for our community. Her enthusiasm, experience, and passion for Jewish learning is infectious. She will continue to transform our programs, and together we will create the Jewish future.”
