The Hollywood Great Neighborhoods Challenge II began on April 1 and neighborhoods have begun submitting their before photos to begin the process.

To assist local participating neighborhoods, the City of Hollywood is recruiting landscape architects, master gardeners and other design professionals to volunteer their time at the Design Event Plant Sale and Recycled Paint Giveaway.

The Design Event, Plant Sale & Recycled Paint Giveaway will take place on Sat., May 17 from 8 a.m. to noon at the David Park Community Center at 108 N. 33 Ct. in Hollywood. There will a similar event at the same time and place on June 7

Residents and business owners can come to the Design Event and consult with the professionals on how they can improve their properties. People can bring a picture of their property and the architects will draw out a vision for improvements.

The City is looking for plants that will thrive in Hollywood to be offered at the plant sale. The plants will be offered at wholesale prices. The City will give away up to 20 gallons of high quality recycled, exterior latex paint. The paint colors will vary.

Those property owners who enter the Great Neighborhoods Challenge II are eligible for discounts and deals from local hardware and paint stores and participating local nurseries. For more information on the Great Neighborhoods Challenge and to learn how to enter, visit  www.hollywoodfl.org/GNCII.
