Hollywood Women’s Club Joins Pioneering Fundraising Effort

Everyday, 10,000 people in the United States celebrate their 65th birthday. Many of these seniors across the country are in need of social service programs to enhance their quality of life. However, despite the increased need for support, only two percent of funding from the nation’s largest grant makers is specifically focused on seniors.

That’s why the Hollywood Women’s Club is partnering with GIVE65 to help seniors in Hollywood. GIVE65, a program of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation, is the nation’s first and only crowd-fundraising platform focused exclusively on helping nonprofit organizations raise funds for programs and services benefiting seniors.

Most people don’t realize how many seniors in our community need assistance,” says Carol Fitzgerald, President of the Hollywood Women’s Club. “With GIVE65, we want to raise a light to this issue while raising funds to make our ‘home’ handicap accessible and safer in the hopes of engaging more members of our community.”

Beginning July 1 anyone who wants to support The Hollywood Women’s Club mission, can visit GIVE65.org to learn more about the organization and make a secure, online donation. Through GIVE65, donations will help towards providing handicap accessibility to our 1927 National Historic Clubhouse. For many in our community, the Clubhouse is the center of activities providing social and educational programming. Many of our members are in their 70s, 80s and 90s. For them this is often their only social outing a month. The Hollywood Women’s Club is one of the oldest organizations in Hollywood founded in 1922. Our beloved Clubhouse needs this upgrading to make it safer and accessible.

In conjunction with GIVE65, on July 10 Family Caregiver Solutions (FSC) launched sponsored by Home Instead Care and the Hollywood Women’s Club the 2nd Monday of the Month 5:00-6:00 pm at the Hollywood Women’s Club Clubhouse, 501 N. 14th Avenue, Hollywood. Family Caregiver Solutions meetings will be a new opportunity to inspire creative support and solutions for caregivers. The meetings are intended to be attended by both caregivers and the seniors they care for, and will include activities allowing the two to share an hour doing something new. The meetings are free and available to anyone in the community. This will be a monthly event with time to possibly change. For information call Jillian Pickett, Family Caregiver Solutions Coordinator at 954.616.7641 or jillian.pickett@homeinstead.com.

Every gift makes a difference. From $10 to $1,000. And, the best part is, these funds will help at the local, grassroots level,” said Roger H. Baumgart, executive director of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation. “We are pleased to partner with the Hollywood Women’s Club and will match each dollar donated up to $1000. They are an outstanding example of the efforts being done to make a positive difference for the safety, well-being and independence of seniors. Especially seniors most in need of our help and support.”

I am thrilled to be a part of GIVE65 to support our local Hollywood Women’s Club in their effort to make their Clubhouse accessible to everyone,” states Dinah Pickett, owner of the local Home Instead Senior Care franchise. “In addition to the match donated by the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation, my office will match an additional $500.”
