“I love music and performing it. Being part of the band is fun and we all get along well,” Furio said.

Band director Jeffrey Lawson is excited about this year’s marching band, which has about 60 members. “I want to get straight superior scores at the Florida Band Association (FBA) assessment in October,” he said.

Rhea West is the band officer in charge of uniforms and says she also enjoys performing music. She plays trombone, baritone and percussion.

Dani Griffin, a trumpet player is the band captain. “We are like a big family,” she said.

The Hollywood Hills High School Marching Band, the Spartans, which can be found performing at every football game, will soon participate in the Falcon Sound Invitational in Tarpon Springs.
