For citizens concerned about the homeless, sick and suffering of our streets, the opportunity to ‘step up’ is now.

The Jubilee’s Center’s 20th annual Walk 2 Stop Hungeris set for Sunday, March 4th, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. at St John’s Episcopal Church located at 1704 Buchanan Street in Hollywood. Registration begins at 2 p.m.

The Jubilee Center’s philosophy is that homelessness is not a choice, rather a convergence of unresolved political, social and economic crises. Until a wide-spread solution is found, it is a grass- roots community issue and the Jubilee Center, has been leading this journey since 1995.

Goals of walk are to secure 200 sponsored walkers, collect 500 pounds of canned food and to raise $15,000 for the center’s operating fund.

“This Walk confronts this issue and raises funds to support our Jubilee Soup Kitchen and food pantry,” said the organization’s Executive Director, LeAnna Vasquez.

“Feed the homeless; fuel humanity.”

Walkers are encouraged to enlist friends, family and local businesses as sponsors. Finish-line festivities include refreshments, entertainment, fellowship and fun.

“Every walker makes a difference and will benefit the feeding programs and social services of the Jubilee Center,” Vasquez concluded.
