Hollywood residents Chinara and Teth Milligan are an inspiration for cynics everywhere. Their story flies in the face of those who think doing everything together is a recipe for marital disaster.
At Broward College, Chinara Milligan is the executive assistant and admission coordinator at the Honors College — she manages everything related to admissions and graduation. Her husband Teth Milligan works in facilities where he’s responsible for inventory, planning and maintenance tasks.
Working for the same employer is just the tip of the iceberg for their shared experiences. This year, Chinara and Teth both graduated with their BAS degrees in Supervision and Management. They began their educational journey together in 2010 by earning their associate degrees. Now, they plan to pursue master’s degrees together as well.
A typical day for the Milligans starts at 5 am and ends at midnight as they work, study, and parent their two children. The Milligans say the pushed each other to achieve so much and couldn’t have done it without each other. Their eldest son currently is at FSU and is so proud of his parents; of course, he came home to watch them graduate.
“My husband Teth and I have been in love for almost 15 years and have been married since 2006,” said Chinara. “We met and became friends in middle school but fell in love years later. We have both been employed at Broward College since 2007. Our Broward College family has been super supportive and encouraging. It’s a blessing to work with so many people who want to see you succeed.
“When I decided to go back to school I didn’t think I could do it alone so I asked my husband to join me because he is my best friend,” she continued. “I am thankful that he said yes. There is no one I would have rather been on this journey with.”
The Milligans are living proof that sometimes the best way to stay on the right path in life and in love, is to walk it together.
