BEEP BEEP! Brightline Railway Signal Testing Underway Now through April 18

Brightline gears up to launch service later this year

Pay Attention when you see and hear the signs of a train approaching!  Those Brightline trains are much faster than the freight trains you’re used to running on the Dixie Highway tracks.  And throughout the first half of April, until April 18, Brightline will be testing its new signal system upgrades along the FEC Railway/Brightline corridor between downtown Fort Lauderdale and downtown Miami, including Hollywood, from 7 am to 7 pm daily. As testing progresses, trains will ultimately reach top speeds of 79 mph.

While the signal testing is underway, detail police officers and safety personnel will be stationed at some Miami-Dade crossings to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians. The safety personnel will protect these crossings by “flagging” or blocking the grade crossings prior to the train arrival, as the train traverses the crossing and until it is safely past the crossing.  However, none of the Hollywood crossings are slated for the extra personnel, so Hollywood residents are warned to be extra cautious.

Safety is Brightline’s top priority, and the company encourages the public to adhere to the laws and regulations as they interact with the railway. For more information, visit www.gobrightline.com.
