Concerns have been raised about kiosks on the east side of the Yellow Green Market, which is in operation on Saturdays and Sundays in Hollywood. The Market has been very successful and more and more small business people have achieved success there.

The problem is that about 40 kiosks operating on the east side of the market were not following all city regulations. This drew the concern of Hollywood commissioners who want the matter addressed.

So, the 40 kiosk operators were told they could not operate in their current situation. Corrections would have to be made. Many of the small business owners were simply told they were no longer in business. So during a recent commission meeting, many of them came and complained. They have asked the commission to work with them so they could stay open.

Some of the kiosk operators said their small business was allowing them to pursue a dream of success as a business owner. Members of the commission said that while they sympathized with the business owners, city regulations on safety and business operations had to be followed.

So the commission agreed to direct the city manager to enter into a stipulated agreement with the Yellow Green Market. It provides terms by which the kiosks can stay open until a new site place is approved. Beyond the site plan approval, the Market would ensure that all electrical and fire safety requirements are met with regards to all kiosks.

“The Yellow Green Market has down well and we want it to become even more successful. It brings many people to Hollywood. The Market is an amazing place and we want to see it improve and become even more successful,” said Mayor Josh Levy.
