Hollywood Hills robotics team competes in South Carolina
Deb Houts, who teaches Robotics at Hollywood Hills High School and Yulian Duran, a driver and lead mechanic for the Hollywood Hills Robotics team with their VEX robot. The Robots team participated in a competition in South Carolina over the weekend.

Members of the Hollywood Hills High School Robotics team traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to participate in a VEX robotics competition.

They competed with teams from around the country. “We faced some strong competition and gained some valuable experience,” said Deb Houts, the robotics teacher at Hollywood Hills.

The Hollywood Hills team built a robot and then programmed it. During the competition, the team programmed the robot to pick up and then fire yellow balls. They also programmed the robot to complete a climbing exercise. Yulian Duran, is the robot driver and lead mechanic. “I enjoy working with robots and being on the team,” he said.

  1. As a member of the Hollywood Hills High School Robotics team this article is wrong in one aspect of what the team competes in. The robot that is seen in this article is not for the Vex competition scene but instead for the FIRST Robotics Competition Scene. I would also like to point out that the competition that we competed in Myrtle Beach was not for Vex but for FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION!
