Neutral

It’s no secret that most of us like to keep things neutral in our homes, especially in the kitchen where simplicity is key. As much as you might try and avoid is, the kitchen gets full of clutter, so a plain scheme is the way to go to keep the place calm and stress-free. You can be more adventurous with flooring in your other rooms but keep the kitchen as simple as you can. With this being said, if you’ve got plastic cabinets then a wood flooring with a busier pattern would work well. On the other hand, if you’ve got wooden cabinets that have all the natural grain and knots flowing in it, them opt for a flooring in a plain grade with minimal imperfections so they don’t clash!

Don’t Over Do It

Be careful with your colour scheme, make sure you test lots of samples before you purchase your flooring. Clashing wood is a no go – perhaps try and get you cabinets made so they are the same wood type as your floor. Marble work tops complement real wood well, or even stone. We’d recommend choosing your flooring then your cabinets!

Top it off with accessories

Now for the fun bit. Stick to a colour theme for appliances – pastel colours work beautifully. This will really brighten your space and give it a bit of character after keeping the flooring and cabinets neutral. Think carefully about little details such as the fruit bowl or even flower vases.
