The show is fun and free for the community to attend. To enter your dog in a contest is $5 per category. Funds raised from the show will benefit the Hollywood Council of Civic Associations Pete Brewer Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship program was created by the HCCA in 2015 to honor Mr. Brewer, a founding HCCA member, Community activist, and a strong advocate for high quality public education. The continuing rise in the cost of pursuing post secondary education has made it difficult for many, and the goal is to help defray some of those costs.
“The HCCA has given away over $7,000 to date even though that is a modest amount we have been able to increase the scholarships every year,” said Pam Burgio, a volunteer for the show. “The HCCA is made up of Civic Associations from throughout the City of Hollywood and we all work to improve our neighborhoods and the overall quality of life in our community.”
The HCCA is a not for profit Civic Association Council. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from this dog show will provide scholarships for graduating Hollywood public high school seniors.
All the staff are volunteers with raffle prizes and auction items all donated. “The more funds we can generate the more we can give in scholarships,” said Burgio.
Vendor space and volunteer opportunites are available. For more information, call Pam Burgio 754-581-4060 (turkeypb@bellsouth.net) or Patty Antrican at 954-662-3612 (ann2can@bellsouth.net).
