After discussions with the City of Hollywood, the CRA, and the Hollywood Police Department, the following change information has been reported regarding roadwork at Hollywood Beach. Starting in the beginning of February, expect to see new traffic patterns emerging.
Community Asphalt Co., a contractor for the city, is now working on drainage improvements on AIA from Arizona Street north toward Sheridan Street. This means there will be only one lane open in each direction for the next several months, with a dual left turn lane in the center of the road. In addition to drainage improvements, there will underground conduit installation and sidewalk reconstruction.
In May 2018, plans call for the contractor to begin working on phase two of the project, which is on the west side of AIA from Arizona Street to Sheridan Street. The traffic pattern will be the same, with one lane open in each direction and a dual left turn lane in the center of the road. The work will include drainage improvements, pipelining installations, sidewalk and curb and gutter reconstruction.
Construction is also set to begin on the Nebraska Street Parking structure in about 30 to 60 days. Once begun, the work should be complete in 8 to 12 months.
