Submissions Now Being Accepted for High School Poetry Slam Competition Celebrating African American History Month

The City of Hollywood African American Advisory Council is inviting all area high school students to participate in the 2nd Annual Talented 10th Poetry Slam competition celebrating African American History Month in February.

Poems are now being accepted for the poetry/spoken word night being held at Hollywood City Hall on Thursday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m. High school students are encouraged to write their poems based on the topic of “AFRICAN AMERICANS IN WARTIME,” and be prepared to recite their poems during the event.

Prizes for the competition include an iPad Mini, a Samsung Tablet and a Kindle Tablet, courtesy of the Liberia Economic and Social Development and AT&T Pioneers.
