The South Broward High School Marching Band was recognized by the Hollywood City Commission as the first place winner in the Candy Cane parade, keeping pace with the entire SBHS band program, which is doing great this year.
Ricardo Esquilin, the assistant marching band director and the director of the jazz band, said that he is proud of all the musicians in the program.
The concert band received an $11,000 grant from the City of Hollywood, allowing about 40 members to travel to Atlanta to participate in a concert band festival there in March. March on!
