A back to school backpack giveaway took place at Hollywood Hills High School. Classic Cares, a group of employees from the Seminole Classic Casino were looking for a way to help students got together to donate about 400 backpacks filled with school supplies.
The backpacks go to families with various needs and will ensure that the children are prepared for the first day of school. Students who attend schools in the Hollywood Hills area including Bethune Elementary, Stirling Elementary, Driftwood Middle, Attucks Middle and Hollywood Hills, received the backpacks.
“We were looking for a way to help young people in the community,” said Edward Aguilar, general manager of Seminole Classic Community. “We want to be a community partner and help make life better for children.”
Lided Cerda of Hollywood Hills was glad to see the children receiving the backpacks. “We want to help children to have the resources to be successful,” she said.
A number of local businesses and organizations from the community participated in the event.
