After more than two weeks at home wanting to get back together with their friends, Broward Public School students are being told they must wait even longer.
Broward County District Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie announced that all public school campuses will remain closed through at least May 1 because of the coronavirus pandemic. This follows a recommendation by Florida education officials
During the announcement, Runcie praised the teachers and staff who have worked hard to make it possible for students to go back to school online. Runcie described that the first day back to school online is like a traditional first day of school in the fall.
He said that about 162,000 students are now using the Canvas Learning Management System and that while there were some initial problems on the first day, many of those problems have been corrected.
