In order to ensure all students have access to online learning — which begins Districtwide on Monday, March 30 — students began receiving computer devices on March 20.
As part of the process, parents and guardians went to their child’s school, completed necessary documentation, and left with tables and laptops on loan from the District for their children.
“It’s been wonderful to see our families supporting their child’s education and know that we have the technology resources to help them during their time,” said Broward County School Board Superintendent Robert Runcie.
The devices were paid for through the SMART Bond which allowed the District to purchase 95,000 computing devices.
For families, who did not receive a device, there will be another distribution day.
The State has ordered all schools in Florida to be closed through at least April 15, but it is likely that Broward schools will be closed through the end of the school year.
