Bryant McFadden returned to McArthur High School, his alma mater to present McArthur with a commemorative golden football as part of the NFL’s Super Bowl High School Honor Roll program. It links the past 49 Super Bowls with this year’s 50th anniversary game and honors high schools that have had positive impact on football.
McFadden spoke to members of the current McArthur High School football team and a group of students about what it takes to be successful in football and in life. “When I was in high school I set high goals and made sure I was only around positive people. You have to know where you want to go. You have to find out what motivates you,” McFadden told the audience.
McFadden played at McArthur in the late 1990s and described himself as very competitive and said he took every practice and game as a personal competition. He admitted that he did always enjoy the physical conditioning runs that all football players must complete. But he played an aggressive style of football and always wanted to win.
McFadden played college football at Florida State University and went on to play in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Card inals. He won two Super Bowl rings and played in three Super Bowls.
Todd LaPace, the principal of McArthur High School was glad that McFadden returned to his former school and appreciated that fact that he gave a speech to the football team and students. After the speech and presentation of the golden football, the McArthur High School band performed.
