Continuing their current run as one of the best teams of their division in the state right now, the Chaminade-Madonna football Lions defeated The Benjamin School 56-0 in their most recent playoff game. The game was one sided and it was 49-0 at halftime, meaning that during the second half, there was a running clock; the clock did not stop except for official timeouts.
Shaun Shivers, who will play for Auburn next year, scored three touchdowns. He rushed for 156 yards on eight carries.
“We wanted to dominate the game,” said Shivers. “I was able to score touchdowns because the offensive line played well. They opened holes for me.
“For us to win a state championship, we need to continue to play Chaminade-Madonna football. We need to continue to dominate,” he added.
Quarterback Daelen Menard had nine pass completions on 13 attempts. He had 102 yards passing and two touchdown passes.
Xavier Williams had three catches for 66 yards and one touchdown.
Head Coach Dameon James said he is very proud of the team and the effort that the players have made.
“We have good coaches and good players,” he said proudly. “Now, we just need to stay focused.”
