Those businesses who have been living through the extensive renovations outside their buildings on Hollywood Boulevard between I-95 and 22nd Avenue are getting a nice perk for their troubles — a grant to help upgrade their own exterior facades to go with their improved street. The program consists of a reimbursement grant for ½ of the construction cost up to a maximum amount of $25,000.00 per property/property owner on a post-completion basis.
The City of Hollywood’s new Office of Communications, Marketing and Economic Development has established a Commercial Property Improvement Program (CPIP). This is a pilot program designed to improve the facades of public or private commercial and industrial buildings. The designated area includes more than 80 eligible properties.
It is anticipated that the improvements will stimulate private investment in the area, attract new customers, and generate new economic opportunities. The program is funded with Community Development Block Grant funds awarded to the City of Hollywood by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The City will offer CPIP grant funding to public and privately owned commercial and industrial property owners as an incentive to restore, renovate and improve their properties along a corridor considered vital to Hollywood. City leaders believe that by improving the appearance of these properties, occupancy rates and overall property values will grow.
