The Hollywood Commission recently honored members of the newly-formed Hollywood Youth Ambassadors Program at a May commission meeting. The program is made up of high school students from Hollywood schools and Hallandale Beach High School. They partner with a member of the Hollywood Commission and gain an inside look at how city government works.

The high school students work with the commission and the Hollywood Police Department to share ideas on how city leaders can reach young people and establish a productive dialogue.

Gilberto Amador, chairperson of the Hollywood Advisory Committee said, “This will give young people an opportunity to become leaders and learn how city government works,” said Amador.

Alexander Allen, an Ambassador and a student at Hollywood Hills High School said, “I want to make my community a better place.”

Andrew Paguaga, an Ambassador and a student at Sheridan Hills Christian School said he believes this program will encourage young people to become leaders.

Tal Deletis, an Ambassador and a student at Ben Gamla Preparatory Charter High School said she was glad to be a part of the program.

The students who were chosen for the program had to go through a rigorous selection process. They all have prior experience in leadership activities.
