During the recent Hollywood Commission meeting, questions were raised about the progress of Fire Station 45 on North 64th Avenue in West Hollywood. There has been much concern about delays in the project.
Apparently, a large part of the problem was that construction materials were delayed due to Hurricane Irma and its aftermath. That hurdle has been crossed: however, the contractor has requested a 45-day contract extension so they may fully comply with the stringent Silver/Gold LEED requirements. They have submitted a new schedule indicating June 2018 as the completion date.
The new Fire Station 45 is located at 1810 North 64th Avenue in West Hollywood, on the same site as the old station that was demolished a few years ago. It was determined by city officials that it would cost more money to retrofit the old station than to demolish and rebuild, according to Joann Hussey, spokesperson for Hollywood.
