Diplomat Beach Resort and NSU Art Museum Team Up for “The Art of Travel”

Just in time for Art Basel and Art Week Miami, the newly-transformed Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood and the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale have announced a new strategic partnership, as both the hotel and the museum gear up to celebrate the milestone occasions of their 60th anniversaries.

Like the Diplomat, which completed a $100 million transformation in April 2017, the Museum was founded in 1958.  Located only 20 minutes from the destination resort, the Museum is the hub of the South Florida Art Coast, situated midway between Miami and Palm Beach in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, one of the fastest – growing areas in the United States. Located in Fort Lauderdale’s active Arts and Entertainment District, the Museum is a short walk to the shops, restaurants and galleries of Las Olas Boulevard, as well as to the Riverwalk waterfront promenade.

NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale is currently presenting Frank Stella: Experiment and Change, a major exhibition spanning legendary artist Frank Stella’s concurrent 60-year career from the late 1950s to the present. Composed of approximately 300 paintings, relief sculptures and drawings, the exhibition, on view through July 8, 2018, offers insight into Stella’s trajectory from minimalism to maximalism and includes never before seen items from his “working archive.” Curated by Bonnie Clearwater, Director and Chief Curator, FrankStella: Experiment and Change leads the Museum’s 60th anniversary celebration presented by AutoNation. Upcoming at the Museum from February 4 to October 18, 2018 is the exhibition Midnight in Paris and New York: Scenes from the Fin-de Siecle, which explores a fascinating and influential period through paintings, prints, drawings, architectural designs, and the decorative arts.

To kick off the partnership,  The Diplomat is offering the Art of Travel package, available from December 7, 2017 through July 8, 2018. The offer includes two complimentary tickets to the Frank Stella: Experiment and Change and the Midnight in Paris and New York exhibitions at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, located at One East Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Room rates begin at $249 and are based on availability at time of booking.

“As Hollywood begins to boom, so does the art and culture scene and we wanted to offer that component to our guests,” said Ed Walls, General Manager of The Diplomat Beach Resort. “We plan to hold several special events on site with the Museum; host intimate dinners at our signature restaurants, including, Monkitail, Diplomat Prime and Point Royal, to honor the museum’s executive board members, and offer our guests enticing art-related hotel packages.”

“We look forward to welcoming The Diplomat Beach Resort’s many local, national and international guests to NSU Art Museum to enjoy our exceptional exhibitions and programming, and we are thrilled to make our longtime partnership with The Diplomat official for years to come,” said Clearwater.

This week, as Art Miami and Art Basel take over south Florida, the Diplomat will feature WPLJ morning deejays  Todd & Jayde broadcasting live from their infinity pool in the heart of Hollywood Beach.   Going forward, according to Amanda Harris, Director of PR & Marketing, partnerships will include on-property art exhibits, artist talks and additional programming. “We also have a ton of VIP top fashion, music, and art celebrities and media staying with us in the hotel, but I can’t share names until they check out,” she quipped.
