The holidays are over and Broward County’s annual Chip-a-Tree program has begun. Now through Monday, January 15th you can drop off your tree at a participating park (see list below) where they are chipped and used for landscaping throughout the county park system. Last year Broward County Parks recycled more than 5,000 trees, representing tons of material that would otherwise have gone to landfills.
The program is free to Broward County residents and there is a limit of two trees per vehicle. No decorated or artificial trees will be accepted. No commercial vehicles or garbage trucks are allowed. Plus, you can save some money for a day in the park — the regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fees at the parks that normally charge them will NOT be in effect for recyclers.
REMINDER: Hollywood residents may also place a non-decorated tree out for commingled collection.
