Hollywood Addressing Beach Parking Issue with Groundbreaking of Nebraska Street Garage

Beachgoers will be happy to hear that the City of Hollywood and the Hollywood Beach CRA are breaking ground on the new “Nevada Street Garage” on Tuesday, March 20th 8:30 am.  All are invited to attend the event celebrating the start of construction on the new $13.3 million, 304 space parking garage on A1A in Hollywood Beach between Nevada and Nebraska Streets.

In July 2017, the CRA won approval to construct the eight-level, 128,542 square foot garage, which will feature a Real-Time Parking Space Availability Counter System, ParkMobile and Pay-By-Plate options, eight handicap-accessible spots, and two electric vehicle charging stations. The street-level entrance and exits will be on Nevada and Nebraska Streets.

The ultra-modern garage with punched metal façade was designed by Hollywood-based architect Joseph B. Kaller & Associates.  Kaufman Lynn Construction has been awarded the construction contract for the garage, which is slated for completion in 14 months. This new garage will offer a centrally located parking option for residents and visitors alike.

Free parking will be available on the day of the event at the Garfield Street Parking Garage, 4 blocks south of the event on Hollywood Beach, from 7:30 to 10 am.  The event begins at 8 am with refreshments and light snacks, with the ceremony beginning at 8:30 and a site tour scheduled for 9.
