Hollywood Closes Summer Camps Due to Coronavirus

Children will have to remain home from summer camp because of the coronavirus situation.

The Hollywood Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts (PRCA) has announced all City-operated summer camps are closed effective Monday, July 6, 2020. The decision to close the camps was made out of an abundance of caution, due to the increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in South Florida.

The primary concern, as always, is for the health and safety of all camp participants, staff and their family members. In an effort to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, the difficult decision has been made to close the City camps until further notice.

Parents and guardians of summer camp participants should continue to monitor their child’s health, regularly take their temperature and perform visual inspections looking for coronavirus symptoms; coughing, fever, shortness of breath, etc. Please speak with your child’s physician for additional medical guidance.

City staff thanks the families for their understanding, flexibility, and support during this challenging time. The hope is that many of the postponed PRCA events and programming will be rescheduled for later this year if possible.
