Hollywood Commission considers update to parking ordinance

Following a long discussion, the Hollywood Commission passed on first reading an update to the current parking ordinance. Many suggestions were given by the Commission.

By the next reading, the language and procedures will be finalized. The goal of the update is to formalize the parking permits process into an official ordinance.

Some suggested changes to the existing ordinance include: banning on-street parking of semi-trucks and tractor trailers during the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., the adding of a section to cite and tow vehicles with expired tags, adding an allowance for Parking and Code Compliance staff to tow as needed, and adding a sliding scale for penalties for improper parking.

This ordnance modification will set the stage to create a beach resident permit program. The fee for such a permit will be set by the Commission at a later date.

The date for a second reading has not been set at this time.
