Hollywood Cops Served in a Different Way at Tip-A-Cop Event to Support Special Olympics

Document 1It was fun to watch the uniformed officers from the Hollywood Police Department work as celebrity servers at Hollywood’s Longhorn Steakhouse on Sheridan Street to raise money for the Special Olympics as part of the Tip-A-Cop program on March 20.

Lt. Thea Basler led the effort and was pleased with the outcome. Chief Chris O’Brien was among the waiters.

This is the third year that Hollywood Police has partnered with Longhorn Steakhouse to raise money for Special Olympics Florida and 100% of the tips collected for the Tip-A-Cop event go directly to benefit this organization.

Tip-A-Cop is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run® campaign in support of Special Olympics. Officers also participate in the Torch Run.  As the largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics, funds raised in the campaign go directly to local programs where the funds are generated.
