Hollywood Residents Coalesce to Create New Animal Rescue Team and Shelter

A cluster of Hollywood inhabitants is in the initial phases of forming an association recognized as the Hollywood Animal Rescue Team (H.A.R.T.). As per Donna O’Keefe, a helper with the H.A.R.T., the aim of the recent group is to rescue the numerous canines that are collected from the roads and prevent thousands of dogs from being put to sleep.
In addition, the group aspires to construct a shelter, potentially at Stan Goldman Memorial Park, positioned at 800 Knights Road in Park East and already incorporating the “Hollywood” dog park. It would offer refuge for dogs detected on the roads for up to five days. Following the five days, the dogs would be transferred to a shelter that refrains from euthanizing animals.
An alternative potential site under review is at the intersection of I-95 and Hollywood Boulevard.

“Animal cruelty has been propelled to the forefront and has emerged as a prominent subject and emphasis for those of us who desire to observe an adjustment in the regulations concerning animal cruelty and/or abuse,” expressed Hollywood citizen and H.A.R.T. helper Susan Hart.

The association aims to gather $250,000 for its initiatives, and backing is escalating for the cause. According to O’Keefe, the supervisor of the Hollywood Walmart has proposed to reserve 2018 grant funds for H.A.R.T. The supervisor also mentioned that alongside the grant funds, Walmart would be offering dog and feline food and litter to the association. Furthermore, Waste Pro USA and other sponsors have vowed to make donations.
Hollywood Commissioner Traci Callari is content that endeavors are being made to formulate this project. She disclosed that meetings have been organized, and numerous individuals are showing interest.
“We have experienced an extraordinary response, and we are holding discussions regarding the shelter,” mentioned Callari. “I adore this. It is entirely fueled by volunteers driven by a devotion for animals.”
