Angela Maxion is now leading the band which has earned many successes over the years. “This band is great, and I want it to become even better. I want to be here and I love the area,” she said.

Last year, Maxion was the band director at Santaluces High School in Palm Beach County. She was a member of the Florida State University Marching Band and student taught at Driftwood Middle School.

“I want to build up the marching band to 100 people. I want to encourage the band members at Driftwood to join our band during high school. I love music and I am comfortable being at Hollywood Hills High School,” said Maxion.

She is pleased that Hollywood Hills now offers two concert bands, a wind ensemble and symphonic band. She wants to develop those bands as well.

Band is a popular activity at Hollywood Hills. The students practice hard and they develop strong bonds. Many musicians consider the band to be a family. It is early in the year and many of the band members have just joined the program.

“I want to bring the band together. We can bond together. I want the band to be a fun environment,” said Gabby Monzon, a trumpet player and brass captain.

Ian Nunez, the drum major and a flute player said, “I want to bring everyone in the band together.”

The Hollywood Hills band is getting ready for the upcoming season. They will perform at home football games and will participate in contests and assessments. Recently the band performed at a back pack giveaway event at Hollywood Hills. Band members are practicing hard and looking forward to the season.
