Hollywood Historical Society holds Founders Day Celebration

Hollywood’s founder, Joseph Young, had a birthday recently. To celebrate the occasion, the Hollywood Historical Society held a Founder’s Day Celebration at the Hammerstein House, built in 1935.

William Young, the great, great grandson of Joseph Young, traveled to attend the celebration from his home in Winter Park. Victor DeBianchi, who was the Hammerstein’s lawyer, shared some interesting facts about the house and the Hammersteins:

Clarence Hammerstein, also known as “Ham,” led a successful life. Married to Vera, he was a leader in Hollywood and served in many social and civic organizations. Clarence and Vera traveled the world and filled their home with items from their life and travel.

The Founder’s Day Celebration was well attended. Cake and refreshments were served at the end of the presentation. For more information about the Hollywood Historical Society, or Founders Day, www.hollywoodhistoricalsociety.org
