Local skateboarding enthusiasts got together recently at the Stan Goldman Memorial Park to compete in the Hollywood Skate Off.
The event offered young people the opportunity to show off their skills, compete for prizes and have a great time. Skaters entered in one of three age categories, 7-11, 12-15 and 16 and up. There was also an open competition where people could compete for cash prizes. Those who competed scored points for various tricks and skateboard techniques.
“This is a way for Hollywood to reach out to young people. It’s also a great way for people to enjoy a competition and have some fun at the end of summer,” said Tyrone Gordon, special events coordinator for Hollywood.
Anthony Martinez competed in the age 16 and up category. “This was a fun and friendly competition,” he said.
