Hollywood dog owners will soon have a new dog park.

During a recent meeting, the Hollywood Commission approved a resolution for a contract between Anzco, Inc. and the City for the new Hollywoof Dog Park and improvements at the Stan Goldman Memorial Park, for an amount not to exceed $326,817.

After talking with Hollywood residents, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts identified a need for a new fenced community dog park within Stan Goldman Memorial Park, at the south end of Knights Road.

The dog park project will include selective tree removal and grading, a new park entrance gate, concrete walkways, paved parking for 15 vehicles, pedestrian safety lighting, signs, park benches and trash cans, separate fenced play areas for small and large dogs, dog drinking fountains, dog play equipment, new landscaping and irrigation. In conjunction with the park improvements, the existing service road from 600 Knights Road south to the park will be widened and landscaped to create a new park entrance drive.

This project is being funded through Park Impact Fees. It is anticipated that construction will start towards the end of February 2015 and be substantially complete by the end of June 2015.

That's great news for Hollywood resident Meredith Brown's pup 'Journey.'
