Hollywood residents can enjoy the 59th Annual Candy Cane Parade on the evening of December 6.
The fun will start at 7:00 p.m. on Scott Street. The Candy Cane Parade will move along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk and end at Harrison Street. It will take about one hour and a half to complete. There are about 70 total entries including 30 floats. Marching bands from South Broward High School, McArthur High School, Chaminade-Madonna High School, Hollywood Hills High School and Grace Academy will perform. Santa Claus will be part of the parade and of course, there will be candy canes.
“This is Hollywood’s signature event and it brings the community together. There will be about 30,000 people in attendance,” said Toni Bridges, program and events manager for Hollywood.
The fact that the parade takes place at night helps make it stand out.
There will be free shuttle service from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. from downtown parking areas on 20th Avenue at Van Buren Street and 19th Avenue at Tyler Street. People will have to pay for parking in the downtown garages. By taking the shuttles, people won’t be faced with fighting traffic, according to Bridges.
