Following his success being named the 2018 Male Athlete of the Year in Track and Field at the 28th Annual Florida Senior Games, Hollywood athlete Brian Hankerson brought home the gold again in the 2019 games.
Hankerson won two golds and a silver medal at the 2018 Florida Senior Games and followed up with the three gold medals at the 2019 National Senior Games. He also holds five age group records in the 50-54 and 55-59 age groups in the long jump, triple jump and high jump.
A total of 151 athletes, age 50 and over, from Broward and Miami-Dade County, competed in 23 events competing over 10 days of events across the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.
The 2019 Florida Senior Games was the first part of a three-year commitment in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area; they will culminate in the 2021 National Senior Games which will be held in November 2021.
The athletes were from Broward and Miami Dade counties only and were part of over 1,500 that collectively participated in the Games from all over Florida and the United States.
