Hollywood residents may see some disruptions to their waste pickup services because of the coronavirus crisis.
City of Hollywood solid waste and commingled collections vendor, Waste Pro USA, has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Several WastePro crew members have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been under quarantine, which has resulted in service impacts City-wide. Until further notice, customers may experience temporary delays in recycling and commingled (Bulk & Yard Waste) collections.
The City of Hollywood Department of Public Works is offering thanks to customers for their patience and understanding during these unusual circumstances. Staff will continue to monitor the situation as they work to ensure service collections, with their primary focus on weekly garbage collections. This focus is to maintain the health, safety and sanitation of our community.
Based on the impacts of COVID-19, in the near future, the City may need to suspend services such as recycling and commingled collection.
If staffing level impacts necessitate a reduction in services, residents will be notified via the City’s website, on the City’s social media sites and through the Notify Me “News and Announcements” alert.
Due to the indiscriminate and deadly nature of the virus, and its ease of community spread, special attention to the health and safety of crew members and our community is paramount. Your patience and understanding is appreciated at this time.
