Hollywood's annual gently-used toy drive underway for children in need

During Christmas, some families struggle to provide a full holiday experience for their children.

Community activist Marty Jacobsen is running a toy drive and asking that people donate gently used toys. The children who will be receiving these toys come from families who are clients of Liberia Economic and Social Development (LES) in Hollywood. Jacobsen is a board member of LES.

“People who have older kids and grandkids probably have a small closet full of toys that could be used by needy children. People have good toys that are taking up closet space and those toys could put a smile on a child’s face,” said Jacobsen.  “Last year we collected over 900 toys for children of the families we provide food bank services for. I do this because it is rewarding and the right thing to do.”

The main office hours LES are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 3220 North 24th Avenue just north of Sheridan Street. Phone number is 954 924 3636.  Toys can dropped off there.

Other drop off locations include:

  • Beauty of Wax at 2029 Tyler Street, 954-922-2252
  • Hollywood Art and Culture Center at 1650 Harrison Street, 954-921-3274
  • PNC Bank at 1837 Tyler Street,  954-929-2590
