In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how to cancel a Google subscription.

Make sure to sign in to the Google Account that has your subscriptions.

Deleting the app does not automatically cancel your subscription.

How to Cancel Google Subscription

Instructions on how to cancel a Google Subscription are as follows:

  • Login Google Play
  • Click on Manage subsription
  • Click on Cancel subscription
  • Please provide the reason for cancellation.
  • Click Continue

What is the process after a cancellation?

When a subscription is cancelled, the user maintains access for the remaining time of the paid period.

For instance, if a one-year subscription is bought on January 1 for $10 and subsequently terminated on July 1.

  • The subscription will expire on December 31.
  • Starting January 1, a yearly subscription of $10 will be in effect with no additional charge.

Applications installed from Play Pass, along with their data, will continue to be stored on your device.

The content accessible through Play Pass is available for usage.

  • When using paid apps, users may encounter prompts to purchase the app or subscribe to Play Pass.
  • In-app purchases will no longer be offered, but can still be purchased separately.
  • Advertisements that were previously removed from applications will be displayed again.
  • By reactivating Play Pass, all of this content will be accessible again.

Restart or resubscribe to a subscription

Certain subscriptions may be ineligible for resubscription.

  • Go
  • Please click on the profile icon in the top right corner.
  • ClickPayments & subscriptions.
  • Select a subscription.
  • ClickResume.

Get a refund for subscriptions

For information about subscription refunds, including prepaid plans, please consult the refund policy on Google Play.

Pause a subscription

Some applications allow you to temporarily suspend your subscription by putting it on hold at the end of your current billing cycle.

  • Please confirm if you are currently logged into the correct Google Account.
  • To access your subscriptions, click on the tab labeled “My subscriptions” on the left-hand side of the screen.
  • Please select the subscription you would like to temporarily pause.
  • ClickManagePause payments.
  • Please indicate the time period for which you would like to suspend payments.
  • ClickConfirm.

Restart payments for a paused subscription

Subscribers have the ability to reinitiate their subscription at any point.

  • Please select the subscription you wish to resume.
  • Please click on “Manage Resume” to resume your subscription.

Change your subscriptions

The payment method used for the subscription purchase will be charged automatically for renewal, which may start 24 hours before each subscription period begins.

To change the payment method used.

  • Select “Manage” next to the subscription you wish to update.
  • Please select “Update” next to the primary payment method.

If payment is declined or insufficient funds are detected, your subscription may be canceled. In that situation, please proceed to set up your subscription again.

Users are able to switch between a prepaid plan and a recurring subscription, or vice versa, depending on the permissions granted by the app developers.

During the subscription switch, payments are promptly processed and any remaining days on current subscriptions or plans are transferred to the new subscription.

When logging into Subscriptions, you can check whether your subscription is recurring or a prepaid plan.

To make changes to a prepaid subscription plan, please follow the required steps.

  • Select the app that offers the ability to switch between prepaid and subscription plans.
  • ClickManage.
  • Please select the plan to which you would like to switch.
  • When a confirmation pop-up appears, choose the “Yes” option.

To cancel a Google subscription on the Google Play app, go to Payments and select Cancel Subscription near your profile icon. Make sure to do this before the end of your billing period on the correct Google account.
