Christopher Pratt named Hollywood's new Fire Chief

Hollywood has a new fire chief. Christopher Pratt, 54, who has been serving as interim fire chief, was appointed to the position by City Manager Dr. Wazir Ishmael.

In a letter to the City Commission, Ishmael wrote that Pratt was selected because “he has served with integrity and professionalism since he joined the department as a firefighter in 1989.”

Throughout Pratt’s career in firefighting, he has served as a driver engineer, fire lieutenant, fire captain, battalion chief and deputy fire chief with distinction. He also served as battalion chief and deputy chief for five years. Pratt has overseen operations, training and EMS, and he holds certifications in various areas of fire science, emergency management and training. He has a Master of Science in Executive Management from St. Thomas University.

Pratt will earn $156,478 annually. He replaces former Fire Chief Eric Busenbarrick, who recently left the department for a position with the Broward Sheriff Office’s Department of Fire Rescue.
