Flocks of flamingos are focal point for Hollywood Women's Club fundraiser

Flamingo

The Hollywood Women’s Club recently kicked off a flamingo decorating contest to help launch its annual holiday fundraising event, Flocking Lawns Around Hollywood.

For a donation of $25 or more, a flock of 25 flamingos will mysteriously appear on a neighbor’s, friend’s, family member’s or business lawn (each flock is later removed during the early evening hours).

Flocking Lawns Around Hollywood started three years ago to raise funds to support the Club’s community service projects, helping transform lives in the Hollywood community and aiding the ongoing restoration of the group’s historic clubhouse.

Members have “flocked” more than 300 homes and other locations in the past few years, raising approximately $6,000.

“Braving the early morning dark, sprinklers, and the giggles of anyone who sees us, flocking is a fun event that is doing good!” said Carol Fitzgerald, Club President.

This year’s holiday fundraiser runs from Dec. 1 -23. To schedule a “flocking,” call 954-609-6625 or visit www.hollywoodwomensclub.org to fill out a request.
