Following the impact of Hurricane Irma, many South Florida residents and nonprofit organizations have been left with a lot to clean up and limited resources to resume their normal activities.
The local volunteer hub HandsOn Broward has stepped up to offer the support of its many helping hands as volunteers from all corners of the community turn out to distribute water, serve meals, clean up parks and support the recovery needs of nonprofits.
“The deployment of spontaneous volunteers to meet the needs of organizations and individuals impacted by an emergency is critical for response and recovery,” said Dale Mandell, President and CEO of HandsOn Broward. “Through our Volunteer Reception Center, HandsOn Broward is able to mobilize volunteers with the skills and tools necessary to respond to community needs following a disaster.”
