Holly Montellanico received her award as 2014 Firefighter of the Year during a Hollywood Commission meeting.
A member of the Hollywood Fire Department for 9 and a half years, Montellanico loves her job and the opportunity to help others. And she is eager to help when off duty.
In November, while in Southwest Ranches, she saw an eight year old boy being attacked by two Rottweiler dogs. She jumped a fence to get to the boy and fought off the two dogs. By taking this action, Montellanico saved the boy’s life. He was severely injured in the attack and required emergency care and extensive medical treatment. For this action, and exemplary service to the City of Hollywood, Montellanico was awarded Firefighter of the Year.
“I enjoy being a public servant. I love helping others and making a difference,” said Montellanico.
