Hollywood Commission approves new city positions

Hollywood will soon have a new assistant city manager and two new officers.

During a recent meeting, the Commission approved a request from City Manager Dr. Wazir Ishmael to create a new position; Assistant City Manager for Finance and Administration. Two additional positions, Chief Civic Affairs Officer and Chief Development Officer will be created. 

The City Manager for Finance and Administration will be in charge of the departments of information technology, human resources, finance and the city clerk’s office.

The chief development officer will assist the development and business community in interfacing with city hall to receive various services such as permits. The Chief Civic Affairs Officer will help with resident concerns and community initiatives.

Currently Hollywood has one Assistant City Manager, Frank Fernandez who serves as Hollywood Police Chief.  There is also an acting Assistant City Manager for Sustainable Development, Lorie Mertens-Black. 

In addition to the current Assistant City Manager and Acting Assistant City Manager positions the new positions will report directly to City Manager.  The job descriptions and salary ranges for the new positions are currently in development with Human Resources.
