Victor Monette named Hollywood's 2015 Firefighter of the Year

During a recent commission meeting, Victor Monette received 2015 Firefighter of the Year award.  A driver engineer, Monette has been with the department for more than 26 years.

Monette believes it is important to work hard as a firefighter and he takes his job seriously. But he was not expecting recognition. “I was surprised it happened and I am humbled. I didn’t know I was being considered for this award,” said Monette. “I believe it is important to show up every day and do my job at the highest level possible.”

Hollywood Fire Rescue Chief Eric Busenbarrick praised the work of Monette. He was nominated for the award by his fellow firefighters and the final decision was made by fire rescue leadership.

“He has provided mentorship to firefighters and is always willing to help fellow firefighters,” said Busenbarrick.

Monette’s family attended the presentation with members of the Fire Rescue department.

The Fire Rescue department also honored Lt. Mark Tasson, firefighter Robert Rayon (pictured above) and firefighter Jeffrey Bishop. They each received the Award of Merit.
