Here’s a guide on how to participate in engaging conversations with your Twitter followers using Twitter’s audio-based chat service. Learn how to join a Twitter space from your Android or iOS device until its official public launch in April 2021.
How to Join a Twitter Space on the Android App?
For Android users:
- Start by opening the app on your Android device.
- If you don’t see any spaces available, try updating your Twitter app.
- Navigate to the Fleets section on the top of the screen to find active spaces. Tap on a space to view the host and other participants.
- If you have received a direct message with the space link, simply tap on the link to join.

- Click on “Start listening” at the bottom of the members list to join the space as a Listener.
- To request to speak, tap on the “Request” button. Once approved, unmute your microphone before sharing your thoughts.

- Tap on the heart icon with the plus sign at the bottom-right of the space to show agree/disagreement reactions to what’s being said.
- To return to your Twitter timeline and leave the space, tap on “Leave” at the top right-hand corner.

- To request to speak, tap on the “Request” button. Once approved, unmute your microphone before sharing your thoughts.
How to Join a Twitter Space on a PC?
Twitter Spaces is currently available on Android and iOS only. The desktop web browser version is planned to be rolled out sometime in April 2021. At the time of writing, Twitter has not shared any specific dates on when it’ll be ready.
How to Join a Twitter Space on the iPhone App?
To join a Twitter space using you’re an iOS device:
- Launch the app on your iOS device.
- See the host and participants of the space you wish to join in the Fleets section at the top of the screen by tapping on a space.
- Simply tap on the link if you’ve received a DM with the link to join a space.
- Click on “Join this space” at the bottom of the member’s list to join the space automatically as a Listener.
- Your Twitter profile photo will be displayed at the top of the space with “Speaker” underneath if you’re allowed to speak.
- To switch your audio on or off, tap on the microphone icon at the bottom left of the screen.
- Tap on the heart icon with a plus sign at the bottom-right of the space to show agree/disagreement reactions to what’s being said.
- To request to join the conversation, tap on the “Request” button below the microphone. Once approved, unmute your microphone by tapping on it when you’re ready to speak.
- If you want to leave the space and return to your Twitter timeline, tap on “Leave” at the top-right corner.
How to Join a Twitter Space on a Mac?
Twitter Spaces can be accessed on Android and iOS. The desktop web browser version is planned for release in April 2021. As of now, specific dates for the availability on desktop have not been disclosed by Twitter.

How Do You Create Spaces on Twitter?
Note: A limited number of iOS users can create Twitter spaces until the official app release in April 2021. Users with protected tweets cannot create a space.
1. Launch Twitter on your iPhone or iPad.

How to Mute and Unmute Yourself in Twitter Spaces?
Tap the microphone at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen once to unmute yourself; it will turn purple and display “Mic is on” underneath it. When you start speaking, an equalizer icon will appear in purple beneath your profile picture and move as you speak.
To mute yourself again, click on the microphone once, and it will now appear white with a diagonal line through it, showing “Mic is off” underneath.
How Do I Permanently Delete My Twitter Account?
On a desktop web browser, go to Twitter, sign in, click on your profile, then choose “Settings” > “Privacy.” Click on the “Deactivate my account” link at the bottom of the page.
Then, click on the blue “Deactivate” button on the confirmation page.
