Trash Treasure Hunt to Clean Hollywood Beach Set for May 20

Trash treasure hunt to clean hollywood beach set for may 20
SOL founder Joey Goldstein

On May 20th, concerned citizens will come together on Hollywood Beach for a day of conservation, clean-up and community activism.

The second annual Trash Treasure Hunt at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort is one of four annual events organized by the youth-led group Saving Ocean Life (SOL) to keep local beaches clean and educate youth about the problems facing our oceans and marine life.

Founded by Joey Goldstein in 2015, SOL’s mission is to prevent pollution through organized beach clean-ups and by spreading awareness.

“Last year we had over 100 volunteers attend our Trash Treasure Hunt,” Goldstein says. “Kids really get excited to win prizes, but more importantly they are happy to help us clean our coast.” By educating young people, SOL hopes to decrease the amount of trash on our beaches in the future.

Kids of all ages are invited to participate in the treasure hunt while cleaning up the beach.  Check-in and registration start at 9 am on May 20th and the treasure hunt and clean-up begin at 10.  Participants can sign up at eventbrite.com/o/sol-saving-ocean-life-16709304064  and the event is free.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, with 100% of the proceeds going towards ocean conservation. For more information, email savingoceanlife@gmail.com or visit their Facebook page.
