Leadership Hollywood Welcomes Class 43; Announces Five Community Projects for the New Year

The longest consecutively-running leadership program in the county, Leadership Hollywood engages participants in team-building and educational field trips where they gain insight into the inner workings of Hollywood, Florida.

Midway through the program, participants team up to complete a community service project that will impact Hollywood.

Produced by the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Hollywood class of 2019 will be working on the following five projects:

1) Free Our Seas and Beyond

In celebration of Hollywood Beach’s commitment to becoming an Ocean Friendly community, the Leadership team will commission and create an environmental-themed mural at the beach, designed to educate and raise awareness of this commitment to residents and visitors of Hollywood beaches, the Broadwalk, hotels, and restaurants.

2) SPARK | Hollywood 2019

This will be the third year for this “Shark Tank”- style competition for local start-ups, entrepreneurs, small businesses and inventors to pitch their ideas, inventions, and products to panelists while promoting Hollywood as an ideal place for businesses to thrive.  Look for a new spin on the competition and the final event.

3) Downtown Hollywood Cleanup and Pub Crawl

The team will work with the Hollywood Lions Club to organize and host the First Annual Amazing Downtown Hollywood Cleanup Day and Pub Crawl to help tenants and property owners alike improve the community, build confidence, and create a new camaraderie  in the downtown area.

4) Raising Awareness for the Exceptional Theater Company (ETC)

Leadership Hollywood has always worked with this Hollywood-based visual and performing arts program for special needs adults, creating and producing its  annual “Hollywood Stars” Show at the Hollywood Performing Arts Center.  This year, the team will take on the larger challenge of creating a multi-media marketing campaign to bring the ETC message to a new and broader audience.

5) Greater Hollywood YMCA Youth Triathlon

The Youth Triathlon will address the twin goals of educating kids on health, particularly obesity issues, and engaging youth in the lifesaving skill of swim lessons. For kids between ages, 2-14 drowning remains the second highest leading cause of accidental death.  This program would serve all three areas of focus of the YMCA; Healthy Living, Youth Development & Social Responsibility.

All of these projects are scheduled to take place in the spring of 2019.  Stay tuned to these pages for details on the programs as they develop.
