The local Scouts of Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties had their annual sale of Camp Cards this year. Of course, the sale came to an abrupt halt just before Spring Break with the pandemic.
But that didn’t stop the effort. The Scouts took their sale online and were able to continue the sale. The Camp Card campaign has ended, but donations for the Scouting Program are always appreciated.
This year also featured an opportunity for the community to purchase Camp Cards to be given as gifts to our local frontline heroes. Camp Cards are a plastic card with discount offers from participating local stores like Publix, Pollo Tropical and many more that enable Scout Units to have the financial resources to support their unit programs.
The sale concluded mid-summer and the Scouts donated over 4,500 cards to workers at Memorial Healthcare System.
“It likely has been a few months since our healthcare workers have been applauded during shift changes,” said Jeff Berger Scout Executive CEO of South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America.
“Over the last month, they have been working even longer hours, with more risk. We wanted to be sure we took the opportunity to say THANK YOU again!”
For the first time in its 100+ year history, the iconic program of the Boy Scouts of America is open to young women as well as young men, all of whom will have the chance to earn Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.
