Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and many are already thinking about how they’ll celebrate their love for each other. Well, look no further. On Saturday, Feb. 9, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., the Paws 2 Care Coalition will be holding a Valentine’s Gala at the Floridian Ballrooms Event Center in Pembroke Pines to benefit the welfare of abandoned, neglected, and homeless pets in South Florida.
The event will feature fine dining, an open bar, a silent auction, raffles, and dancing.
“We love the idea of a Valentine’s Gala because we just think it all ties in together, spending a wonderful evening with your significant other, while at the same time helping homeless pets in our community,” said owner Ana Bueno.
Since 2010, Paws 2 Care has helped over 1300 dogs in South Florida by providing them with care and by helping them get adopted from their no-kill shelter.
“It is overwhelming, the amounts of pets that are abused, neglected, and abandoned in South Florida. Believe me when I tell you what you see in the news is not even the tip of the iceberg,” said Bueno.
Animals are found injured and ill, and without help from organizations like Paws 2 Care, they would not receive help. Proceeds from the gala will go towards helping these animals.
“Pets brings so much love into our lives; it’s a little way of including them,” said Bueno.
Paws 2 Care hopes to make the gala an annual event to raise enough money to help more dogs.
“When we rescue a pet off the streets, they are dirty, hungry, and scared and you just see such sadness in their eyes. Then we see the same pet clean, sleeping in a warm bed after eating dinner and looking at you with such love and peace. That’s the moment you know you made a difference,” said Bueno.
