George Hernandez pitched a no-hitter that led McArthur High School to a 2-0 regional championship win over St. Thomas. The Mustangs will now go to the state finals.
“I was able to control my pitches. I threw good curve balls. I am excited about the win and the no-hitter,” said Hernandez.
And so was the team. The players were excited about their win against St. Thomas, a powerhouse program.
Coach Oddibe McDowell was ecstatic. “The players worked hard and they have played well all season. I am proud of this team and we are looking forward to going to the state finals. This is a big win for us,” he said.
The Mustang’s shortstop, Yordys Valdes, recently received recruitment offers from many major league baseball teams. He hit a double during this game that brought in a run. “It feels amazing to beat St. Thomas,” he said.
